Prevention: New Study Finds Helmets Effective in Preventing Head Injuries A review of studies examining neck and head injuries among skiers and snowboarders has found that helmet use decreases the risk of head injuries. The meta-analysis found that the risk of head injury was reduced by 35% with helmet use. No increase in the risk of neck injuries was found among helmet users. This adds to other evidence that helmets can reduce the risk of head injuries, including severe injuries leading to traumatic brain injury and even death, in a wide variety of activities.
